| Sonic the Hedgehog: The Movie

In the early 1996, Sega made an Anime OVA of Sonic, a high quality movie spanning two 30 min tapes. It stars Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Dr. Eggman and some new characters, The President of Sonic's land and his daughter Sera. It's nothing you have ever seen before of Sonic, and many people say this is how Sonic should have looked in a cartoon. It is far different from US T.V. Show's. It's not to dark and not to goofy, just like the games are.
There was two-episodes video, the episodes were released on two VHS cassettes were "Journey to Eggmanland" on the 1st tape and "Sonic vs Metal Sonic" on the 2nd Tape.
At first when the videos debuted, they were rental only. A few months later they were made available for purchase. The animation is produced by Taki Corporation and the series was supervised by Yuji Naka and Naoto Oshima.
The Sonic OVA as it's called by Sonic Fans now (it used to be called the Sonic Anime till Sonic X came out) came out in the US in the Fall of 1999. It was translated, dubbed and released by A.D.V. Films, but a few things were changed in the orginal versions. The orginial Japanese version was for order kids and when some words were translated into english, it had some of different 4 letter words in it, along with some of "the finger". The Anime was cleaned up when it came here, now all that is left is a few fun Shut-Up's, a few changed things and some funny lines, that's about all there was in the US version. In this version in came in one tape, unlike the Japanese Version and it was also the first time it was on DVD. The DVD had the orginial uncut version and could watch it as it was shown in Japan, and it was later on produced on DVD in Japan, but still as two-episode DVD's. In January of 2004 it was re-released on DVD only to people who didn't catch it the first time around... and everything plus more was in this one... so now everyone can watch it.
